During the first half of 2024, Glaston has received two orders from North European safety glass manufacturers for the new FC Series E tempering lines.
The requirements for safety glass are tightening while glass sizes are increasing, and glass shapes are becoming more complex. Modern Low-Emissivity Glass (Low-E) coatings that are used to increase the energy efficiency of the glazing, require modern tempering capabilities to produce high-quality safety glass.
Furthermore, there is a growing need for flexibility and mixed production capabilities. This, combined with a labor shortage challenge, glass processors are compelled to invest in the latest technologies to support increased automation.
Glaston introduced the FC Series E to the market in 2023 to complement its FC Series product family, which features an advanced circulated-air convection technology to process any glass type with high energy efficiency. The tempering line also includes state-of-the-art automation that ensures reliable and flexible production in uniform quality.
Customers can also fully automate the tempering process by adding the Glaston Autopilot option. The Autopilot automatically sets all necessary parameters based on the glass sheet’s placement on the line, allowing the operator to simply monitor the process. With a high loading efficiency, automating the process also helps decrease energy consumption per processed square meter.
“Glaston has a long heritage in designing and manufacturing energy-efficient glass tempering machines. Optimizing production efficiency and accuracy is crucial, as our customers want to make the most of each load of glass that is processed and reach a quick return on investment. With these orders for our new FC Series E, it is great that our customers trust our expertise and the latest benefits in heating technology are complemented by a high level of automation increasing the ease of use and maintaining a high quality,” says Miika Äppelqvist, SVP Architecture at Glaston.
The orders for the FC Series E tempering lines were booked in Glaston’s Q1/2024 and Q2/2024 order book and the lines will be delivered during the first half of 2025.
