Annealing and decorating lehrs

E.W. Bowman specialises in making annealing and decorating lehrs for holloware, lighting and television glass. Bowman offers complete turnkey operation, including design, manufacture and installation of the lehr as well as start-up and training. In addition to the Uniontown, PA USA headquarters, Bowman now has a full sales and service operation located in Selby, England. Installation, service, and training are available world-wide.

The basic, modular recirculating lehr design offers new versatility with belt widths up to 5.6m (18.5ft) and speeds of up to 18m/min (60ft/min). To ensure smooth start-up and the highest quality, all lehrs go through an 80-point check, including assembly, before leaving the factory.

Every Bowman lehr has a number of energy-saving features including internal belt return and vitreous fibre insulation. In addition, the lehrs have consistent temperatures as each zone is independently and automatically regulated, and the controlled heat or drift means there are no hot or cold spots.

With decorating lehrs, precise temperature control ensures good quality in colour firings.

Bowman lehrs feature stainless steel interiors, belt frames, fans and ducts in all heated modules, with heavy duty state-of-the-art drive systems; digital or PLC instrumentation; electric power disconnect; watt hour meters or gas meters; process control function displays; electric element five-year warranties; and bottom charge-end rolls for belt-tracking adjustment.
