SGT Annual Conference |

Planning for the 2007 Annual Conference is underway, and this web site will be updated regularly with information required for your registration. The venue for the technical sessions includes a bright atrium which will give you access to wifi internet, a bank, a bookshop, a newsagent, and also the meeting place for all delegates to discuss all manner of subjects. University accommodation is available and has full ensuite facilities, and a full English breakfast will be available.

This conference will weave together the three threads of science, art and technology. Science will cover key themes from novel materials and fabrication routes to structure and properties. The principles and practice of technology will include areas such as the environment, fuel usage, modelling and glass applications. Art and history will make reference to the long traditions of ceramics, automotive and aerospace technologies and their requirements.
Keynote speakers will introduce parallel sessions in each of these diverse areas, but time will be set aside to encourage discussion and to generate mutual enrichment.
Our 2007 Annual Conference will complement formal sessions of scientific and technological presentations with the invaluable opportunity for members to establish and renew personal contacts. During the refreshment breaks there will be time to visit the exhibition area and meet those who support glass making. There will also be a focus for post-graduate students with the New Researchers´ Forum on glass giving students an opportunity to share their research with SGT members from industry and academia. The widening interest in art and history of glass is served by the History and Heritage Special Interest Group in a one day meeting held in association with historians, collectors and artists. |
