INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

Glass Institute collaborates with wide range of prestigious foreign workplaces inclusive of as specialized exploratoryinstitutes (e. g. Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro [SSV] in Italy, Glasforskningsinstitutet [GLAFO] in Sweden, Institut du Verre in France, Institut National du Verre in Belgium, Bundesanstalt fur Materialforschung und -prufung [BAM] in Germany), as laboratories of significant world producers of glass and glass products (e. g. Schott, Saint-Gobain, Glaverbel, Pilkington, Sisecam, Corning).

This collaboration runs especially in activity frame of appropriate technical commissions of international glass organization International Commission on Glass (ICG), of which Glass Institute is member. It includes two technical commissions:

It especially concerns of field of laboratory tests and round robins focused to development and verification of new testing methods in area of glass, glass raw materials, wastes and emissions from technologies and also to preparation of certified reference materials and in information exchange.

No fewer important is also attendance at technical commissions of two significant international organizations - International Standard Organization (ISO) a Comite Europeen de Normalisation (CEN).

International Pool of Glass Abstracts

As another significant activity of Glass Institute it can be cited collaboration of Scientific and Technical Information Centre at creation of international glass database GLASSFILE. Since 1999 Scientific and Technical Information Centre has statute Associated Member of European Economic Interest Grouping (GEIE), that associates glass information and documentation centres in Belgium, France, Italy and Czech Republic, acting below name International Pool of Glass Abstracts. Purpose of this grouping is to develop international charakter of glass database GLASSFILE. Since 1998 access to this database is via Internet.
